Update May 21: In just a little over a week DownloadPass has gotten a huge upgrade. Around 90 new DVDs have been added to the DownloadPass archive - going from an impressive total of around 570 to a whopping 658 DVDs.

Update July 11: After the introduction of the slightly revised scoring system today, I decided to adjust a a couple of the other scores to reflect my overall experience with DownloadPass over the last two months.
DownloadPass is still an excellent deal if you want variety, but I don’t feel it can match up to VideosZ in content and updates.

If you have read my review of VideosZ or just browsed the archived or recent posts at Babesandtoys.com, you already know that I am a very big fan of the large dedicated video sites that have started popping over the last couple of years.
Doing away entirely with the usual standard fare “a few hundred thousand (and too often non-exclusive) photos, a couple of thousand (often short) video clips and various other forms of adult entertainment like a few livecams and perhaps some sex stories”, these sites generally skip the photo content and the extras all together and just specialize in delivering a truckload of licensed video content from the large porn studios.
And boy do they deliver.

Content

Like VideosZ and VideoBox, DownloadPass offers several hundred adult DVDs for either online viewing (streaming) or download. At the time of writing there are 561 full DVDs in the archive, and at least a couple of new ones are added every week.
So with VideosZ sporting 680+ at the same price the choice should be obvious, right? Well, not entirely. While VideosZ has the edge on pure volume, DownloadPass has the lead when it comes to variety. Besides all the most common niches like anal, asian, blowjobs, group/orgy, interracial, latina and lesbian, DownloadPass also offers some of the more uncommon ones (depends on your preferences if you view them as such of course) like gay, mature and milf, legs/feet, panties, pregnant and transsexual/shemale.
The vast majority of the movies are still from the first niches though, so do not fear that there is a lack of content if you are not into any of the more “exotic” stuff.

Aside from a larger niche span, DownloadPass also has DVDs from quite a few studios that are not on the VideosZ list, meaning you will get some of the same movies at both sites, but also a lot that you will not find at the other.

One final difference is that DownloadPass offer a lot of screenshots from the original DVDs from every scene. Not something I personally find all that interresting, but some people might enjoy it - if only to get a closer look at the scene before you download it if you are on a slower connection.

Video Quality

All videos at DownloadPass are available in three qualities. Low is only interesting if you are on a slow modem connection, medium is fairly acceptable and high is the one you will always choose if you are on a broadband connection (and let’s face it - those large video sites are really aimed at people with at least a 256 or even 512 kbit connection).
While obviously not quite up to the picture quality of the original DVDs, the high quality videos look great and are more than fit for full screen viewing on either your computer monitor or on your TV if you have one connected through a TV-out jack on your graphics card.
The scenes can either be viewed or downloaded as one file, or as seven smaller partial files which may be great news for people on slower connections.
Sound quality is also pretty good, but then again - no one is really expecting digital THX surround sound from porn, are they? Not yet anyway.

Final Comments

Like with VideosZ I simply cannot recommend DownloadPass enough. Since I first discovered these new types of dedicated video porn sites about a year and a half ago with ClimaxCorner (now called VideoBox and soon to be reviewed here as well) I have been a huge fan of them, and there hasn’t been more than a couple of months where I have not been a member of one of them.
DownloadPass, VideosZ and VideoBox are obviously fierce competitors in this market, but I honestly love all three of them and cannot declare one “winner”.
VideosZ has the volume advantage, DownloadPass has more variety and VideoBox has the least amount of DVDs (not that 300+ is exactly what you would call a small selection) but has by far the lowest price ($9.95!) and an excellent and innovate scene selection system.

Personally I alter between them. VideosZ for a month or two and then perhaps a change to DownloadPass for a while if I want movies from other studios, and VideoBox is so cheap I might as well keep up the membership at the same time.
This is what it feels like to have around 600 porn DVDs stacked up on your shelf (or 8-900 including VideoBox) - for $29.95 a month!!
I had a hard time believing it myself when I first ran into those sites, but it’s true alright. I can’t even begin to imagine what the cost of licencing several hundred DVDs from leading porn studios must be - but I think it is safe to say that DownloadPass and competitors are hugely popular since they can pay for that.
